Petition of David Famularo: Protect the Longfin Eel/Tuna Kuwharuwharu under the Wildlife Act

Petition request That the House of Representatives puts the Longfin Eel/Tuna Kuwharuwharu on the Wildlife Act 1953 as an absolutely protected species. Petition reason I believe the Longfin Eel/Tuna Kuwharuwharu is a taonga considered by Māori a protector and guardian. Recent precedents for protecting it under the Act are kea (1986) and geckos/skinks (1996). It is as unique as other iconic species protected under the Act like kiwi and tuatara. It has the same Department of Conservation classification as North Island Brown Kiwi and Little Penguin/Kororā, which are protected under the Act. I believe this eel deserves an equivalent status and level of protection.
